We had some snow recently, here in North Carolina, and I was inspired to do something to one of my armies that I have always wanted to…add a snow effect to the bases. Most people go for the full on snow, but I was noticing that as the snow melted it left these really cool wet patches on the ground, where the snow had melted, re-frozen over night and melted some more, until it was completely gone.
The company whose paints I really like has a snow effect that they sell for bases. So, off to the game store I went in search of this paint.
Luckily they had it. Sometimes ideas like this can die if you can’t get your hands on the materials that you need right when the idea is “born”.
So I tested it out on one model and was pretty nervous about how it was going to look. There really was no going back if it didn’t work, so here we go…
Here was the test model, and I have to say that I loved it. The snow added something to the base and model that I didn’t know it needed. So happy when an idea works out like this.
So, I added it to the squad and then the rest of that very small army and here is the result.
I am thrilled with how it all came out. So cool if you ask me. I then got carried away. This small army usually allies with another larger force and so I went to town adding snow to all of their bases as well, and even along the hull of one of their tanks.
I am now strongly considering this theme for one, and possibly another army. I will keep you posted with updates.
On another front, I also worked on and finished a new Warboss for my ork army. Once look at this guy and it is clear he is not a nice dude. The orks are all about warfare and are in a constant state of rage. They need a suitable leader to channel all of that evilness and this is just the guy.
Thats it for now. Have a wonderful Winter Break. I will see you next year.
