One major perk of being a teacher is having the summer to spend lots of time doing the things you love. For me that usually involves lots of painting small toy soldiers. I usually take on a large project also, and this summer was not exception to that. Lets get on to the models.
First up are some Stormcast Eternals. These guys are the knights of the imaginary world that the game takes place in, called the Mortal Realms. These Retributors are armed with massive hammers, that blast their enemies to dust using the harnessed energy of stars.
Next are the opposite end of the spectrum of “goodness”. These ratmen are called Skaven and count in the millions. They burrow beneath the cities of the Mortal Realms and are generally a nuisance. However when gathered in large enough numbers and with the right leader, they can really do some damage.
This is only half the unit. The other 10 are not quite done yet.
Next up are two things for my favorite army. These soldiers fight in a universe 40,000 years in the future, and it is not a nice place. These guys are basically superhuman soldiers that protect what is left of humanity from a number of evils.
This first guy is a Lieutenant in this army, known as the Imperial Fists. Their armor takes quite a long time to paint, as yellow is one of the hardest colors to paint toy soldiers with.
Up next is some heavy support for these guys. This massive battle tank can transport 10 soldiers to the front lines, and can really do a ton of damage on the enemy in the process. This was my largest project for this army yet and it took around 60 hours to finish.
Finally I have a group shot of the whole army. These guys represent over 300 hours of work building and painting, but in my opinion they are totally worth it.
In coming months, I will share more of what I am working on, as we blog together.
