Recently I have been wanting to build out my Space Marine army so that I had a bigger force to play agains my son Cole. He has a huge army and can change what he plays with each time and I would like to get to that point.
Here’s the problem. My Space Marine army is the Imperial Fists.
These yellow soldiers look amazing and I love to paint them, but they take so long. Each model is around 8-10 each. To build an army of any size it would take me a really long time.
I wanted to come up with a paint scheme that would really work with the Fists, but not take quite as long. I decided to invent my own chapter and call them the Wardens of Terra. In the background of the game, Terra is Earth and they protect it from all of the various threats in the universe.
The scheme I came up with involves using silver paint for the armor and then quickly painting what’s called a wash over the top of it. The wash flows into the shadows and recesses and gives the model depth. Then, I will spend a lot of time on the heads, weapons and shoulder pads. It will trick the eye into thinking a ton of time has been taken, but actually a ton of time has been saved.
On to the pictures. Here is the full squad.
I wanted the Sergeant of the squad to have a sinister look, so I gave him a really cool skull mask. He also has special arm that makes it look like he is getting orders from high command.
I am really happy with how they came out. I am working on a Commander for this squad and will post some pictures once he is finished.
