Miniature What?

The miniature painting hobby is one that has given me thousands hours of enjoyment over that past 18 years. The primary manufacturer for the minis that I paint is Games Workshop, a company based in England. They have been producing some of the highest quality models in the industry for as long as I have been involved in the hobby.

Their miniature range has three primary focuses. A futuristic war-torn universe (Warhammer 40,000), a mid-evil Lord of the Rings inspired fantasy range (Warhammer Fanstasy) , and an actual Lord of the Rings range using the likenesses from the popular movies.

The miniatures themselves can be used in table top war games (imagine chess on an 6X4 board), but for now lets just stick with the painting of the models themselves. I currently paint miniatures from the Warhammer 40,000 range (40K for short), so the pictures and tutorials will be limited to those models. For more information on the ranges available from Games Workshop, head to the Getting Started Page.

Here are two examples of some models that I have painted recently. Both the avatar and header image are also recently completed kits, both from different races.

I’ve never really been interested in toy soldiers, considering the fact that my dad is the only male in the house (literally, even my dog’s female!), but this is very intriguing. I like how you specifically described the divisions of the company in London, how you get it, and the hobby itself.
