These are some WIP shots of the Ork Trukk that I have been working on. It needs serious battle damage, to match with the other vehicles in the hoard. I will post some shots of the finished trukk in a few days.
The driver’s head is from the Lootas/Burnas kit and the driver has a head from the Bomba kit (my favorite part of the model).
The metal was sprayed using The Army Painter’s silver spray (can’t remember what it is called) and then HEAVILY washed with Nuln Oil. The only GW brush I use is their wash brush. I load that thing up and go to it.
Two good coats will do it. Make sure that you allow the first coat to dry completely before doing the second coat. Then hit it with a heavy coat of Agrax. To get a really cool effect, then “chip” it using GW Chainmail (or the current equivalent). You can see this effect on the big shoota below.
Less is more for this technique. Use a fine detail brush and just let it hit around some of the edges. All of the metal on the trukk will get this treatment, it will just take a bit.
The bommer that I painted has this effect all over it.
Here is one more picture.
