I often spend quite a bit of time painting in the summer, and despite working on the house that Mrs. Mason and I just bought, this summer was no exception.
I worked on a variety of things, but really focused on updating and adding to my 40k armies with the release of the new edition of the game. If you are curious about the game side of this hobby, follow this link to my Game On post.
I started off the summer finishing up a unit of Stormcast Eternals. These guys are the heroes of the Mortal Realms, former warriors given god-like powers by the deity Sigmar. I have grown to enjoy painting the gold armor, which was not the case when I started this army.
I mentioned that a new edition of the game that I have been playing for 20 years came out over the summer. It is the best version of the game yet and has invigorated my desire to have several great armies to choose from when we play. I went back and looked at several armies, and did some work on many of them.
First up are the Tau, an alien race that wants to expand their empire, often at the expense of anyone who gets in their way. They are very technologically advanced and are quite fun to play as they deal out quite a bit of damage. I worked on two of their commanders this summer, finishing off two models that I have had for quite a while.
The first two pictures are the equivalent of a Lieutenant in the Army. A front line commander who barks orders at the troops.
The true leadership of the Tau are guys known as Ethreals. They are the spiritual leaders, who lead from the back, inspiring troops with their mere presence.
Last up are a brand new force, the Primaris Space Marines in the yellow heraldry of the Imperial Fists. Only two models finished so far, so TONS more to do until they are playable.
There are some more models that are in varying stages of “doneness”. I will share these as the year progresses.
this is so cool I wish I could do that!
