The release of the Tau Codex has invigorated my interest in rebooting my Tau army. This is one of my oldest armies and one that I have really been dragging my feet on completing. Part of the issue is that the paint scheme I chose requires a mix for the basecoat. I used to have one mixed up in a pot and need to do that again. The other pain is the sheer volume of edge highlights that I have chosen to do on these guys and the amount of time that takes.
However, for some reason or another, I got completely motivated to finish the single Bodyguard and the three members of the stock Crisis Team.
On to the pictures.
Pictures right after I finished them. The red in this shot is much more true to the ones below which shows it as being overly saturated for some reason. The basing is also not quite finished here, nor is the battle damage.
I tried a new technique with battle damage that I think looks pretty sharp. It mirrors GW’s battle damage that has been used in White Dwarf lately. It has a more 3D look to it, as if the paint has chipped and is revealing the primer underneath.
Group shot with the Riptide. I really love how these models look together. I am hoping to keep the mojo going with these guys, and have built my next kit for them.
More Fire Warriors. The new kit was very clean and easy to put together. The support weapon is quite cool and will look great all painted up.
