I have been working on my Skaven army quite a bit lately and have been really enjoying it. The latest finished piece is the lead wizard for the army, known as a Greyseer. He can cast spells that can really damage enemy units, as well as cast spells to protect his own troops. Painting him had some fun elements to it, especially the small rat on the end of his staff that is along for the ride.
I used a color on his robes that I have not used a whole lot of, but really like the way that it came out. The blueish-grey looks great with the red hood. I am also pleased with how his horns came out it required some very fine lines to get the effect that I was looking for.
Following this (the projects never end 😉 I went back to some of my favorite models that remain unpainted in my collection. I was reminded of these by a student who brought in his painted Sea Guard to share one day. These models come from the Island of Blood set release by GW years ago. So much detail in them, but very gratifying to paint. They are still in the early phases, but here is a shot of what I have completed so far. The shields are my favorite aspect to the model, adding so much personality with the sculpted dragon bursting out of the water.
This unit will be used as bodyguard for a Prince that I painted early last year. He is one of my favorite models that I have ever completed and he deserves a strong unit to run along side of him. He has recently been moved to a round base, I just have not had time to update the pictures. More work in progress shots (or possibly finished models) to follow.
Wow
Hi Mr. M. I like this blog post a lot because you show how detailed the figures are!
