I have managed to finish the Commander for my Imperial Fist army, quite a challenge considering all the house projects that are ongoing.
I am really happy with how he came out, particularly the contrast of the model. I kept the shadows a bit darker and highlighted all the way up to a pretty bright yellow to make those edges really stand out.
One of the details that I really am happy with is his sword. I tried a new technique on it by blending in some bright silver at the top and putting the slash marks all along the length of the sword.
The shoulder icon also came out really well. Decals can be tricky to work with, but when they work, and look painted on, they add to a model in awesome ways.
In this shot you can see two decals that I used. The one on his shoulder and the Roman numeral “2” on his hip pad. These are just fancy stickers that require a bit of a soft touch to get on a model. Once they are on there, there is not getting them off, so knowing where you want them ahead of time is essential.
Nothing else to show this week. Working on the house has seriously limited my hobby time, but I know that once summer hits I will get back to painting in a bit way. I usually do one large project each summer and this summer I am thinking about this guy…
I will keep you posted.
I don’t understand how you do that????
how many figures have you made??
I had forgotten all about this! These are incredible! It reminds me a lot of the clay projects we do in art classes throughout both Lower and Middle School. It amazes me how you do this!
